Prunella is a collection of seven handcrafted A-frame cabins nestled in 75 acres of forest on the shores of Johnson Lake, in the Pontiac region of Quebec. Founded by two sisters — Nancy and Catherine — in 2020, Prunella was designed as a place where modern comfort meets the beauty of the outdoors. Each cabin features a private cedar hot tub, a woodstove, a fully equipped kitchen, and direct access to the lake, trails, and nature. Whether you’re here for a romantic getaway, a family retreat, or a solo escape, Prunella offers the kind of stillness and warmth that stays with you long after you leave.

We have seven handcrafted A-frame cabins, Prunella No. 1 to No. 7, spread across 75 acres of forest.

Check-in is from 4:00 PM. Check-out is at 11:00 AM. Early arrivals may be possible depending on availability (a small fee may apply). If you plan to arrive later than 9:00 PM, please let us know so we can make arrangements for you. Late departures may result in an additional fee.

Our cabins are designed for 2 to 4 guests.

Yes. You can purchase a gift card in our online shop and choose a custom amount. When purchased, you will receive a receipt along with the card. For personalized or custom-designed cards, please contact us at [email protected]. To book a stay using a gift card, simply reach out and we will reserve your dates manually.

Every Prunella cabin comes with a private cedar hot tub, a woodstove, Wi-Fi, a fully equipped kitchen, a Nespresso coffee machine and French press, a Nebula Capsule projector for movie nights, an Echo Dot speaker, board games and cards, bed linens, bath towels, bathrobes, eco-friendly toiletries, a hair dryer, a BBQ on the deck, a fire pit, and keyless entry. We also provide firewood, kindling, coffee pods (2 per guest per day), tea, olive oil, sugar, and basic spices.

Yes. Wi-Fi is included in every cabin.

Each cabin includes a Nespresso machine and a French press. We provide 2 coffee pods per guest per day, plus ground coffee and a selection of teas.

Yes. All drinking water on-site is potable and tastes great.

Each cabin has radiant heated floors and a woodstove. We provide firewood and kindling.

Every cabin has a Nebula Capsule projector for movie nights, an Echo Dot speaker, and board games and cards.

Yes — our cedar hot tubs are available in every season. Soaking under the trees in winter is especially magical. Please note that if the water was recently refreshed before your arrival, it may take several hours to reach the ideal temperature.

Johnson Lake is one of the most peaceful parts of the Prunella experience. Access paths lead from the cabins down to the shared dock area. Canoes, paddleboards, and floats are available for all guests to enjoy — we just ask that you keep outings shorter so everyone has a chance.

General directions:
All guests should use Miller Road to reach the lakefront. Walk along Miller Road until you reach the parking spot at the top of the hill with the Prunella sign. Just beyond the sign, the staircase leads down to the lake, docks, paddle boards, kayaks, canoes, and life jackets.

Prunella No. 1
Walk down your driveway to Miller Road. The parking spot is directly across from your driveway, beside the Prunella sign. Continue a few steps to reach the staircase.

Prunella No. 2
Take the path directly in front of your cabin (marked with a lake access sign) until you reach Miller Road. Turn right and walk to the parking spot with the Prunella sign, then continue a few steps to the staircase.

Prunella No. 3
Walk to Miller Road, turn right, and continue downhill. Pass the main office and take the red trail on the right side. It leads to the parking space with the Prunella sign. Continue just past it to the staircase.

The cabins are spaced to offer comfort and privacy. Cabins 1 and 2 are about 200 feet apart. Cabins 3 and 4 are roughly 100 feet apart. Cabins 5, 6, and 7 are approximately 75 feet apart. The surrounding forest and cabin orientation help ensure a peaceful and private stay.

Every cabin includes board games, snowshoes, a sleigh, and walking sticks. Prunella No. 1 and No. 2 also include outdoor family games and snow scooters.

We love dogs and welcome them — but only in Prunella No. 4, our dedicated dog-friendly cabin. A $100 pet fee per stay applies. One dog up to 55 lbs is permitted per booking. Cats and other animals are not allowed. Dogs must be leashed outdoors, kept off furniture, and up to date on vaccines. For the comfort of all guests, bringing a pet into any other cabin will result in a $250 fine.

Yes. Each cabin has its own private parking space directly in front of the unit. No need to share or search for a spot — just pull in and settle into your retreat.

Yes. There is a centrally located charging station on-site. Charging is $2 per hour and payable by credit card.

You’ll need to bring your own groceries, but our kitchens come stocked with the essentials: pots, pans, cutlery, knives, a waffle maker, a fondue set, olive oil, spices, sugar, tea, and coffee. The setup varies by cabin — Cabins 1 & 2 have a full kitchen with oven, stovetop, dishwasher, and microwave. Cabins 3 & 4 have two induction burners, an air fryer or toaster oven, and a microwave. Cabins 5–7 have two induction burners and an air fryer/microwave oven.

There’s something for every season. Nearby favorites include Parc Chutes Coulonge (zip lines, obstacle courses, via ferrata), Aventure Rivière Sauvage (canoe rentals on the Rivières Noire and Coulonge), local wineries and cider mills like Little Red Wagon Winery and Coronation Hall Cider Mills, Fée des Bois medicinal farm, Willow Lane Alpacas Farm, and the Cycloparc PPJ bike trail. In winter, check out Escapade Eskimo (dogsledding and snowshoeing) and Patinage en Forêt (forest skating trail at Lac-des-Loups). Pine Lodge in Bristol offers golf on the Ottawa River.

Our cabins are designed for 2 to 4 guests. This limit helps us maintain the peaceful atmosphere that makes Prunella special. Outside visitors are not permitted without prior approval. If you would like to bring a baby, please contact us — we may be able to accommodate.
